Collection, Device Acceptance & Valuation Policy

Effective Date: 24 September 2026
Last Updated: 24 September 2026
Eco Tech Recycle is a trading name of Tech Cell Limited (Company No. 14338989).
This Collection, Device Acceptance & Valuation Policy explains how Eco Tech Recycle handles requests for collection, drop-off, device assessment, acceptance, reuse, repair, refurbishment, parts recovery, responsible recycling and value recovery.
This Policy applies to individuals, businesses, schools, charities, community organisations, trade customers and other organisations that contact Eco Tech Recycle about unwanted, surplus, used, faulty, damaged, end-of-life or mixed-condition electronic equipment.
This Policy should be read together with our:
Recycling & WEEE Policy;
Data Erasure & Data Security Policy;
Purchase, Buy-Back & Payment Terms;
Business & School Collection Terms;
Device Grading, Functional Condition & Resale Classification Policy;
Delivery, Shipping & Collection Policy;
Privacy Policy;
Complaints Policy; and
any quotation, collection confirmation, invoice, asset record, valuation note or written agreement issued by Eco Tech Recycle.
Where a written quotation, collection confirmation, service agreement, purchase offer or invoice contains specific terms for a particular job, those specific written terms will take priority for that job to the extent that they are lawful and consistent with any applicable statutory rights.

Key Points at a Glance

Submitting a collection request does not guarantee acceptance or free collection.
Free collection depends on location, quantity, equipment type, condition, access and commercial viability.
Devices may be reused, repaired, refurbished, used for parts or responsibly recycled depending on assessment.
Customers should back up required data and remove device locks before handover.
Any valuation given before inspection is normally provisional.
Handing over equipment does not automatically create a right to payment.
Ownership arrangements depend on whether the equipment is being recycled, donated, assessed or purchased.
Nothing in this Policy limits statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.

1. About Eco Tech Recycle

Eco Tech Recycle provides technology recovery services including the assessment, collection, repair, refurbishment, reuse, parts recovery and responsible recycling of eligible electronic equipment.
Our aim is to extend the useful life of technology wherever practical while ensuring that equipment is handled safely, responsibly and in accordance with the agreed service route.
We do not treat every item in the same way. Depending on condition, safety, value, data risk, repairability and legal status, a device may be directed towards:
reuse;
repair or refurbishment;
upgrade or reconfiguration;
parts recovery;
value recovery;
responsible recycling;
secure handling of storage media;
an agreed donation route;
return to the customer; or
another agreed route.
Acceptance of any item is always subject to review.

2. Scope of This Policy

This Policy applies to:
collection requests;
drop-off requests;
business and school collections;
charity and community organisation collections;
mixed IT equipment collections;
device acceptance decisions;
initial assessment and triage;
provisional valuations;
value recovery enquiries;
devices offered for reuse, repair, resale, donation, trade, parts recovery or recycling;
equipment that may contain data-bearing storage media; and
equipment that may be faulty, damaged, locked, incomplete or untested.
This Policy does not apply to:
devices already sold by Eco Tech Recycle;
eBay sales, returns or eBay buyer-protection processes;
customer-owned devices being repaired and returned to the same customer;
direct retail sales by Eco Tech Recycle; or
a service governed by a separate signed agreement where that agreement contains different lawful terms.

3. Collection Requests Are Subject to Review

Submitting a collection request does not guarantee that Eco Tech Recycle will accept, collect, purchase, recycle, repair or otherwise process the equipment.
Before confirming a collection or drop-off, we may consider:
equipment type;
quantity;
condition;
age;
location;
accessibility;
safety;
data-security requirements;
batteries;
storage media;
activation locks or device-management restrictions;
potential for reuse, repair or parts recovery;
availability of an appropriate recycling route;
transport and handling requirements;
commercial viability; and
whether the person releasing the equipment has authority to do so.
We may request further information such as photographs, serial numbers, asset lists, model details, fault descriptions, quantities or access information before confirming a collection or drop-off.

4. Equipment We May Accept

Subject to assessment, Eco Tech Recycle may accept:
laptops;
MacBooks;
desktop PCs;
iMacs and other all-in-one computers;
workstations;
servers;
mini PCs;
thin clients;
mobile phones and smartphones;
tablets and iPads;
monitors;
networking equipment;
routers and switches;
CCTV equipment;
gaming consoles;
chargers and power supplies;
cables;
docks;
accessories;
smart devices; and
other related IT and electronic equipment.
Acceptance depends on suitability, safety, condition, quantity, location and the agreed service route.

5. Equipment We Do Not Normally Accept as Standalone Items

Unless agreed in advance, Eco Tech Recycle does not normally accept the following as standalone items:
televisions;
printers;
photocopiers;
CRT monitors;
white goods;
large household appliances;
lamps and lighting equipment;
loose unsafe batteries;
contaminated equipment;
chemically contaminated equipment;
equipment with medical or biological contamination;
equipment containing unknown hazardous substances;
fire-damaged equipment; or
equipment presenting an immediate safety risk.
Certain items such as printers, televisions or mixed electrical equipment may sometimes be considered as part of a larger pre-approved business or IT collection.
This must be agreed before collection.
Eco Tech Recycle may refuse any item that is unsafe, unsuitable, materially mis described, not legally transferable, not ready for collection or outside the agreed service scope.

6. Faulty, Damaged, Incomplete or Untested Equipment

Eco Tech Recycle may accept faulty, damaged, incomplete, untested or no-power devices where they are safe to handle and operationally suitable.
Examples include devices with:
cracked screens;
faulty keyboards;
missing batteries;
missing storage drives;
missing RAM;
charging faults;
software faults;
no-power faults;
display faults;
cosmetic damage;
water or liquid damage;
damaged cases;
missing accessories;
unknown condition;
failed components; or
intermittent faults.
Acceptance does not mean that a device has resale, repair or purchase value.
Following assessment, equipment may be directed to repair, refurbishment, parts recovery, responsible recycling, return or another appropriate route.

7. Unsafe Items and Batteries

Safety is a priority.
Customers must tell Eco Tech Recycle in advance if any equipment contains or may contain:
swollen batteries;
leaking batteries;
burnt or heat-damaged batteries;
punctured batteries;
fire-damaged devices;
devices that become unusually hot;
devices that smoke, smell or spark;
loose lithium batteries;
chemical contamination;
liquid damage;
sharp broken glass; or
exposed hazardous components.
Eco Tech Recycle may refuse, isolate, reclassify or arrange separate handling for equipment that appears unsafe.
Customers must not send or present visibly unsafe batteries or fire-risk devices without prior agreement.
Where specialist packaging, transport, handling or downstream processing is required, additional charges may apply if they have been agreed or clearly communicated before the relevant additional service is carried out.

8. Reuse-First Assessment

Where practical, lawful and appropriate, Eco Tech Recycle follows a reuse-first approach.
Suitable equipment may be considered for:
continued use;
repair;
refurbishment;
upgrade;
redeployment;
resale;
an agreed donation route;
parts recovery; or
responsible recycling where another route is not suitable.
A reuse-first approach does not guarantee that every device will be reused.
A device may be unsuitable for reuse because of safety, data-security requirements, legal classification, repair cost, market demand, age, lock status, damage, missing components or other practical considerations.
Where equipment is intended for donation, Eco Tech Recycle does not guarantee that the same individual device will be supplied to a particular recipient or charity unless that has been specifically agreed in writing.

9. Data-Bearing Devices

Electronic equipment may contain personal, business, school or organisational data.
Examples include:
laptops;
desktops;
MacBooks;
iMacs;
servers;
workstations;
phones;
tablets;
SSDs;
hard drives;
USB drives;
memory cards;
network devices;
CCTV systems; and
other smart devices.
Customers are responsible for backing up any data they need before collection or handover.
Our data-handling procedures are described in our Data Erasure & Data Security Policy.
Where applicable, eligible devices may be processed using licensed Certus data-erasure software.
Reporting may be available where the process is applicable and successfully completed.
A factory reset alone should not be treated as certified secure erasure.
If data erasure cannot be completed successfully, the route for the device may change. Storage media may need to be removed, destroyed, processed through an appropriate downstream route or excluded from reuse.

10. Customer Preparation Before Collection or Drop-Off

Before collection or drop-off, customers should, where reasonably possible:
back up required data;
remove SIM cards;
remove memory cards;
remove personal accessories;
remove cases or covers not intended for transfer;
remove Apple ID, iCloud and Find My restrictions;
remove Google FRP restrictions;
remove Samsung Account restrictions;
remove MDM and organisation-management profiles;
remove BIOS or firmware passwords where appropriate;
sign out of personal accounts;
disclose relevant charger requirements;
separate equipment by type where practical;
provide an asset list where available;
disclose known faults or damage;
disclose liquid damage;
disclose unsafe batteries; and
ensure equipment is accessible for collection.
Customers should not provide passwords, recovery keys, authentication codes, banking credentials or other sensitive access information unless Eco Tech Recycle has provided a specific secure process for a legitimate and defined purpose.

11. Activation Locks, MDM and Security Restrictions

Eco Tech Recycle does not unlawfully bypass security or ownership controls.
Devices may be refused, returned, revalued or reclassified where they are subject to:
iCloud or Activation Lock;
Find My;
Google Factory Reset Protection;
Samsung Account restrictions;
BIOS or firmware passwords;
MDM;
Microsoft Intune;
Windows Autopilot;
Jamf;
Apple Business Manager;
Apple School Manager;
Google Workspace management;
school, business or organisation management profiles;
finance restrictions;
lease restrictions; or
other ownership restrictions.
Locked or managed devices may have reduced or no resale value.
If a device cannot lawfully or practically be tested, erased, repaired or reused because of a restriction, Eco Tech Recycle may:
revise its valuation;
reject the item;
return it;
hold it pending customer action; or
route it to an appropriate non-reuse process where lawful and agreed.

12. Ownership and Authority

By offering equipment to Eco Tech Recycle, the customer confirms that:
they own the equipment or are authorised by the legal owner to release it;
the equipment is not knowingly stolen;
it is not subject to an undisclosed ownership dispute;
any lease, finance or third-party ownership arrangement has been disclosed;
they have authority to instruct Eco Tech Recycle to handle the equipment; and
information supplied is accurate to the best of their knowledge.
Eco Tech Recycle may refuse, delay or suspend handling where ownership, authority, lease, finance or other legal concerns arise.
We may request evidence such as:
proof of ownership;
written authority;
business authorisation;
asset-release confirmation; or
other reasonable supporting documentation.

13. Collection Areas and Minimum Quantities

Eco Tech Recycle may offer collections across the UK for qualifying loads, subject to availability and review.
As a general guide:
London and nearby areas: normally a minimum of 5 qualifying IT devices;
rest of the UK: normally a minimum of 10 qualifying devices or a pallet-level collection;
phones or tablets only: normally a minimum of 20 devices.
Smaller quantities may be handled through:
drop-off;
postal arrangements;
paid collection; or
another agreed route.
These are guidelines only and do not create an entitlement to collection.
Free collection is not guaranteed.

14. Free, Paid or Conditional Collections

A collection may be free, chargeable, conditionally free or declined depending on factors such as:
location;
distance;
quantity;
equipment type;
equipment value;
condition;
reuse potential;
repair potential;
parts value;
recycling cost;
accessibility;
parking;
loading arrangements;
time required;
labour required;
packaging;
safety; and
specialist handling requirements.
Eco Tech Recycle will normally tell the customer before confirmation whether a collection is free or subject to an agreed charge.
We will not normally impose an unexpected discretionary charge after a confirmed collection simply because our own costs are higher than anticipated.
However, a reasonable additional charge may be proposed where circumstances materially differ from the information supplied by the customer, including where:
equipment was materially misdescribed;
quantities differ significantly;
access requirements were not disclosed;
unsafe equipment was not disclosed;
excessive waiting time results from customer-side issues; or
additional specialist handling is requested or required.
Where reasonably practicable, the customer will be informed of the proposed additional charge before the additional work is carried out.
Nothing in this clause affects rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

15. Booking Confirmation

A collection is not confirmed until Eco Tech Recycle confirms it in writing.
A written confirmation may include:
date;
estimated time window;
collection address;
contact person;
equipment description;
approximate quantity;
access information;
parking or loading requirements;
agreed charges;
agreed valuation arrangements;
special instructions; and
preparation requirements.
Verbal discussions, initial enquiries, informal messages or provisional quotations do not by themselves guarantee a collection.
Eco Tech Recycle may reasonably reschedule or cancel a collection because of:
safety issues;
access problems;
incorrect material information;
transport or vehicle problems;
severe weather;
staffing problems;
major traffic disruption; or
other circumstances outside reasonable operational control.
Where this happens, we will aim to inform the customer as soon as reasonably practicable.

16. Customer Access Responsibilities

The customer must ensure that equipment can be accessed safely at the agreed collection time.
Customers should ensure that:
a responsible contact is available;
equipment is ready;
equipment is not blocked or inaccessible;
loading bays or lifts are available where necessary;
parking restrictions are disclosed;
site rules are communicated in advance;
reception or security teams know about the collection;
heavy or bulky equipment is described accurately;
unsafe equipment is disclosed; and
the collection area is reasonably safe.
Eco Tech Recycle may delay or refuse a collection where access is unsafe, unavailable or materially different from what was agreed.

17. Failed or Wasted Collections

A reasonable failed-collection, waiting-time, parking or rebooking charge may apply where a confirmed collection cannot proceed primarily because of circumstances within the customer’s control.
Examples include:
equipment is not available;
the customer or authorised contact is unavailable;
an incorrect address was supplied;
agreed access is unavailable;
material parking or loading restrictions were not disclosed;
equipment is materially different from what was described;
undisclosed unsafe equipment prevents collection;
the customer cancels at short notice after costs have already been reasonably incurred.
Any charge must reflect the circumstances and reasonable costs incurred and will not be used as a disproportionate penalty.
Where a specific failed-collection or cancellation charge applies, we will aim to disclose it as part of the booking or applicable service terms.

18. Drop-Offs

Drop-offs are by prior arrangement unless Eco Tech Recycle confirms otherwise.
Customers should not leave equipment outside, unattended or with third parties without agreement.
For drop-offs, Eco Tech Recycle may request:
customer name and contact details;
device list;
ownership or authority confirmation;
purpose of drop-off;
relevant data-risk information;
lock status;
fault description;
photographs or serial numbers; and
acceptance of relevant service terms.
Equipment left without prior agreement may be refused or processing may be delayed.

19. Initial Assessment

After collection or drop-off, Eco Tech Recycle may carry out an initial assessment.
This may include:
counting devices;
recording equipment types;
visual inspection;
serial number or IMEI recording where appropriate;
checking for obvious damage;
checking for missing components;
checking lock status where practicable;
checking whether equipment powers on;
identifying data-bearing components;
considering reuse potential;
considering repair potential;
considering parts-recovery or recycling routes;
identifying safety concerns;
photographing devices or batches; and
creating an internal intake or asset record.
An initial assessment is not a full diagnostic inspection unless that service has been specifically agreed.
Devices may later be reclassified following detailed testing, opening, repair assessment, data-erasure attempts or component checks.

20. Valuation Is Not Guaranteed

Some devices may have commercial value. Others may have no value or may involve transport, testing, repair, handling or recycling costs.
Eco Tech Recycle may provide:
no valuation;
a provisional estimate;
a batch estimate;
a device-level provisional valuation;
a final valuation after inspection;
a repair or parts-value estimate; or
a recycling-only classification.
Any valuation made before sufficient physical inspection is normally provisional unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.

21. Factors That Affect Valuation

Valuation may be affected by:
brand;
model;
specification;
processor;
RAM;
storage;
screen size and condition;
battery condition;
cosmetic grade;
functional condition;
age;
market demand;
activation-lock status;
MDM status;
data-erasure outcome;
missing components;
missing chargers;
liquid damage;
screen damage;
keyboard faults;
power faults;
storage faults;
motherboard faults;
serial number or IMEI issues;
finance, lease or ownership concerns;
repair costs;
parts value;
recycling cost;
quantity;
transport cost;
testing cost;
labour; and
commercial resale viability.
A device with a high original purchase price may have little or no current value if it is locked, unsafe, obsolete, damaged, incomplete, untestable or uneconomical to repair.

22. Provisional Valuations

A provisional valuation is an estimate based on information available before full inspection.
It may be based on:
photographs;
customer descriptions;
model;
specification;
quantity;
age;
declared condition;
assumed functionality;
assumed lock status; and
current market information.
Unless otherwise stated, a provisional quotation is normally valid for 7 days.
A provisional valuation is not a binding purchase offer unless Eco Tech Recycle specifically confirms in writing that it is binding.
It may be changed or withdrawn if the equipment:
differs materially from its description;
has undisclosed faults;
is locked or managed;
has missing parts;
has liquid damage;
has battery damage;
cannot reasonably be tested;
cannot be successfully data-erased where erasure is required;
has ownership concerns;
has a lower specification than stated;
is uneconomical to repair; or
requires materially more handling than expected.

23. Final Valuation

A final valuation may be issued once Eco Tech Recycle has had a reasonable opportunity to inspect, test, grade and assess the equipment.
This may include:
physical inspection;
functionality testing;
cosmetic grading;
serial or IMEI checks;
security and lock checks;
data-erasure assessment;
storage checks;
battery assessment;
market review;
repair-cost review;
parts-value assessment; and
safety assessment.
Eco Tech Recycle is not obliged to purchase any device.
Where a final purchase offer is made, it must be accepted in writing within the period stated.
If no period is stated, the offer is normally valid for 5 working days.

24. Valuation of Mixed Batches

For mixed batches, Eco Tech Recycle may value the batch as a whole rather than item by item unless device-level valuation has been agreed.
A mixed batch may contain:
working devices;
faulty devices;
incomplete devices;
locked devices;
no-power devices;
repairable equipment;
parts-recovery equipment; and
recycling-only equipment.
A batch valuation may reflect the overall cost and value of managing the complete batch and not only the potential value of individual high-value devices.
Where a customer requests detailed diagnosis, device-level reporting or item-by-item valuation beyond the agreed service scope, additional charges may apply if agreed before that additional work is carried out.

25. No Automatic Right to Payment

Handing equipment to Eco Tech Recycle does not automatically create a right to payment.
Payment applies only where:
Eco Tech Recycle makes a purchase offer;
the customer accepts that offer in writing;
ownership transfer is agreed;
required checks are completed;
payment information is supplied securely; and
the equipment meets the agreed purchase conditions.
Equipment provided for recycling, donation, reuse assessment, repair assessment, parts recovery or another non-purchase route will not automatically generate payment.

26. Ownership Transfer

Ownership depends on the service route agreed.
Recycling or Donation Routes
Where a customer expressly releases equipment to Eco Tech Recycle for recycling, donation, reuse or another permanent transfer route, ownership may transfer at handover where this is stated or reasonably clear from the collection confirmation, handover record or other written agreement.
Where ownership is intended to remain with the customer, that arrangement should be confirmed in writing.
Assessment or Valuation Routes
Where equipment is supplied only for assessment or valuation, ownership normally remains with the customer while assessment is carried out unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Eco Tech Recycle will hold the equipment as custodian during that period.
Purchase or Buy-Back Routes
For purchase or value-recovery transactions, ownership normally transfers only after:
a final purchase offer has been made;
the customer has accepted the final offer in writing;
required ownership or authority checks have been completed; and
payment has been made or arranged in accordance with the agreed terms.
Once ownership has lawfully transferred, the customer will not normally be entitled to demand return of the equipment unless Eco Tech Recycle agrees otherwise.

27. Rejected Offers, Returns and Uncollected Goods

If a customer rejects a final valuation offer and retains ownership of the equipment, Eco Tech Recycle will normally make the equipment available for return or collection by an agreed method.
Unless Eco Tech Recycle has made a material error or has agreed otherwise, reasonable return, courier, diagnostic or handling charges that were disclosed or agreed may be payable by the customer.
Rejected equipment is normally held for up to 10 working days after notification while return arrangements are made.
The expiry of this operational holding period does not automatically transfer ownership to Eco Tech Recycle and does not automatically authorise disposal or sale.
Where customer-owned goods remain uncollected, Eco Tech Recycle may issue written notices and take further steps in accordance with applicable law, including the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977 where relevant.
Any sale, disposal or other action involving uncollected customer-owned goods will only take place where legally permitted and after any required notice process has been followed.

28. Payments

Where payment is due, Eco Tech Recycle will normally pay by bank transfer or another agreed method.
We may require:
customer name;
business name;
invoice where applicable;
payment details;
proof of ownership or authority;
VAT information where applicable;
written offer acceptance; and
confirmation of transfer of ownership.
Payment is normally made within 7 working days after:
final inspection;
final purchase offer;
written acceptance;
ownership transfer;
completion of required checks; and
receipt of correct payment information.
Eco Tech Recycle is not responsible for payment delays resulting from incorrect payment information, missing documents, unresolved ownership issues, fraud-prevention checks or customer delay.

29. Items With No Value or Negative Value

Some equipment may have no commercial value or may cost more to collect, handle, test, repair or recycle than it is worth.
Eco Tech Recycle may classify equipment as:
Retail or Reuse Suitable;
Repair Required;
Parts Recovery;
Recycling Only;
No Commercial Value;
Chargeable Collection;
Chargeable Recycling;
Return to Customer; or
Refused.
Where equipment is found to have no commercial value, Eco Tech Recycle may offer:
responsible recycling;
parts recovery;
return to the customer;
a revised batch valuation; or
another appropriate route.
Any chargeable route will be subject to agreed or clearly disclosed terms.

30. Business, School, Charity and Organisation Collections

For organisations, Eco Tech Recycle may request:
an asset list;
equipment quantities;
device types;
serial numbers;
site contact details;
collection address;
access information;
data-security requirements;
proof of ownership or authority;
visitor or safeguarding requirements;
collection timing restrictions;
loading arrangements;
waste-transfer or handover-document requirements; and
reporting requirements.
Organisations should ensure that only authorised personnel release equipment.
Where a school or organisation requires specific visitor, safeguarding or site-access procedures, those requirements must be communicated before collection.
Where agreed as part of the service, Eco Tech Recycle may provide asset-level records, chain-of-custody information or other agreed reporting.

31. Records and Documentation

Depending on the service agreed, Eco Tech Recycle may provide or retain:
collection confirmation;
handover record;
asset list;
intake record;
assessment notes;
serial number record;
IMEI record;
photographs;
grading records;
valuation offers;
invoices;
payment records;
data-erasure reports where applicable;
waste transfer documentation where applicable;
recycling-route documentation where applicable; and
other service records agreed with the customer.
The level of reporting depends on the service purchased or agreed.
Detailed reporting may require additional work and may be chargeable where it is outside the original agreed scope.

32. EEE, WEEE, Waste Transfer and Recycling Routes

Whether electrical or electronic equipment is classified as used EEE or WEEE depends on the circumstances, including whether the holder discards it, intends to discard it or is required to discard it.
Where equipment is legally classified as waste, applicable waste controls will be followed.
Where equipment is intended for genuine reuse and can lawfully remain used EEE, Eco Tech Recycle will aim to keep it appropriately identified and managed separately from waste streams.
Where EEE and WEEE are transported or stored together, appropriate records and physical or administrative controls may be used to distinguish the relevant routes.
WEEE may require:
appropriate classification;
waste-transfer documentation;
assessment for hazardous characteristics;
assessment for persistent organic pollutants (POPs);
lawful storage and treatment; and
transfer to appropriately authorised downstream facilities where necessary.
Eco Tech Recycle operates its relevant repair and refurbishment activities within the scope and conditions of its applicable Environment Agency registration or exemption and other lawful waste routes.
WEEE identified as POPs waste will not be prepared for reuse where applicable law prohibits that route. It will instead be directed to an appropriate authorised treatment route designed to destroy or irreversibly transform the relevant POPs in accordance with applicable requirements.
Not every item received by Eco Tech Recycle is automatically waste. Some equipment may remain suitable for lawful reuse, repair, continued use, resale or redeployment depending on its legal status and condition.
Customers should tell Eco Tech Recycle before collection if they specifically require equipment to be treated as waste.

33. Items Found After Collection

If equipment or materials are discovered after collection that were not disclosed or agreed, Eco Tech Recycle may:
refuse the items;
reclassify the collection;
revise the valuation;
propose additional handling costs;
return the items;
request further instructions;
arrange an appropriate specialist route where available; or
decline to process unsafe or unsuitable items.
Examples include:
unexpected printers or televisions;
unsafe batteries;
contaminated equipment;
non-IT waste;
household waste;
large appliances;
hazardous materials; and
items outside the agreed collection scope.

34. Photographs, Evidence and Device Records

Eco Tech Recycle may create photographs or records for legitimate operational purposes including:
condition evidence;
asset tracking;
valuation;
dispute handling;
collection verification;
repair assessment;
data-security workflows;
recycling documentation;
quality control; and
fraud prevention.
Photographs may include device condition, serial numbers, labels, damage, missing components or batch arrangement.
Any personal data contained within those records will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data-protection law.

35. Fraud, Theft and Ownership Concerns

Eco Tech Recycle may refuse, delay, hold or suspend processing where there is a reasonable concern that equipment may be:
stolen;
lost property;
subject to finance;
subject to lease;
subject to an insurance claim;
owned by an employer;
owned or managed by a school or organisation;
subject to third-party ownership;
reported lost or stolen; or
fraudulently supplied.
Where lawful and appropriate, Eco Tech Recycle may cooperate with law enforcement, insurers, payment providers, regulators, marketplaces or professional advisers.

36. Customer Accuracy and Misdescription

Customers should provide accurate information about equipment, including:
quantity;
model;
specification;
condition;
known faults;
missing parts;
lock status;
liquid damage;
battery damage;
ownership status;
location;
access requirements; and
data-security requirements.
Eco Tech Recycle may revise or withdraw a collection, valuation or offer where information supplied was materially inaccurate, incomplete or misleading.

37. Timeframes

Eco Tech Recycle aims to assess equipment within a reasonable period following collection or drop-off.
Timing may depend on:
quantity;
device type;
testing requirements;
data-erasure requirements;
repair assessment;
lock status;
staffing;
parts availability;
customer response;
downstream processing; and
reporting requirements.
Any timeframe provided is an estimate unless expressly confirmed as binding in writing.

38. Environmental and Reuse Outcomes

Eco Tech Recycle aims to identify an appropriate practical route for equipment, taking into account reuse, repair, refurbishment, parts recovery and responsible recycling.
We do not guarantee that:
every device will be reused;
every device will be repaired;
every device will have commercial value;
every component will be recovered;
every device will follow a particular downstream route; or
every device will avoid disposal or energy-recovery routes where those routes are legally appropriate and necessary.
Final routing depends on condition, safety, legal status, data security, repair ability, commercial viability and lawful downstream options.

39. Customer Data and Intended Data Erasure

Customers must back up any information they wish to retain before handing equipment to Eco Tech Recycle.
Where the agreed service includes data erasure, secure media handling or destruction, loss of data is an intended consequence of that service.
Eco Tech Recycle will perform agreed services with reasonable care and skill.
We are not responsible for the loss of data that the customer was instructed to back up where that loss results from an agreed erasure, refurbishment, recycling or destruction process carried out with reasonable care and skill.
This does not exclude responsibility where liability cannot lawfully be excluded.

40. Liability and Statutory Rights

Eco Tech Recycle will take reasonable care when handling equipment.
However, equipment supplied to us may already be:
used;
faulty;
damaged;
incomplete;
untested;
end-of-life;
affected by liquid damage;
affected by unstable batteries;
affected by hidden faults; or
close to component failure.
Subject to applicable law, Eco Tech Recycle will not normally be responsible for loss arising solely from:
faults that existed before handover;
hidden faults that could not reasonably have been identified beforehand;
normal failure of old or damaged components;
reduction in value caused by previously undisclosed faults;
customer failure to remove security locks;
customer failure to disclose ownership restrictions;
inaccurate information supplied by the customer; or
accessories or items that were not supplied, declared or recorded.
Nothing in this Policy excludes or restricts liability for:
death or personal injury caused by negligence;
fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
failure to provide a consumer service with reasonable care and skill where the law requires this;
statutory consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted; or
any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.
Nothing in this Policy affects a consumer’s statutory rights.

41. Complaints

If a customer is unhappy with a collection, acceptance decision, valuation, rejected item, data-handling route, return decision or communication, they may use the Eco Tech Recycle Complaints Policy.
Complaints should be sent to:
Email: info@ecotechrecycle.co.uk
Subject: Complaint – Collection / Valuation / Device Acceptance
Where possible, the complaint should include:
customer name;
organisation name, where applicable;
collection or reference number;
device details;
collection or drop-off date;
summary of the issue;
relevant photographs or documents; and
the outcome requested.
Eco Tech Recycle will investigate complaints fairly and respond in accordance with its Complaints Policy.

42. Changes to This Policy

Eco Tech Recycle may update this Policy from time to time to reflect changes in:
business operations;
collection routes;
device-acceptance criteria;
valuation processes;
data-security procedures;
recycling routes;
legislation or regulatory guidance;
customer feedback; or
compliance requirements.
The version applying to a confirmed transaction or service will normally be the version in force when that service was agreed, together with any specific written terms supplied for that service.
A later change to this Policy will not normally change a confirmed contract retrospectively unless:
the customer agrees;
the change is required by law; or
another lawful basis permits the change.
The current version of this Policy will be made available on our website.
